Install and set up Overshift

Everything a server owner needs, on one page. If something here doesn't match what you see, tell us.

Requirements

  • A FiveM server for GTA V roleplay, running QBCore or Qbox.
  • ps-dispatch and ox_lib, started before Overshift.
  • Outbound HTTPS from your server to our service. Every host allows this by default.

ESX and other dispatch scripts (cd_dispatch, rcore, qs) are planned for January 2027.

Install

  1. Download the resource and unzip it.
  2. Put the overshift folder in your resources folder.
  3. Add this line to server.cfg, after ps-dispatch and ox_lib:
    ensure overshift
  4. Restart the server. The console prints [overshift] ready and a claim link.
  5. Run /overshift doctor as an admin, in-game or in the server console. Every line should be green.
No account or licence key is needed. The free plan runs as soon as the resource starts.

Places

Quiet-hours calls only happen at places on your list in config.lua under Config.POIs. Overshift ships with 20 well-known spots. Add your own MLOs and businesses, and check each default on your map before going live, because coordinates differ between map packs.

{ name = 'Burger Shot', street = 'Del Perro Blvd', zone = 'Del Perro', coords = vec3(-1191.6, -891.4, 14.0) },

street is what dispatch reads out. zone is the area name. Calls are never built from where players are standing.

Pacing and hours

The defaults suit most cities. Change them under Config.Quiet.

SettingDefaultWhat it does
quietMinutes12How long the city must be quiet before a call.
maxPerHour4The most calls Overshift sends in an hour.
minOfficers1Officers on duty needed before any call.
populationScale20With N players online it waits quietMinutes × (1 + N / 20).
busyPlayers40At this many players it stays off.
hours0–24Server local time. { from = 22, to = 8 } runs overnight only.

Follow-up calls on real events (publicSeeds) are off by default. Turn them on only if your community is happy with them.

Radio voice

Calls can come with a short, fixed radio line read by a stock synthetic voice through a radio filter. It waits for radio silence. Set the volume, or turn it off, under Config.Voice. The free plan includes 25 voiced lines a month; paid plans include more. When the allowance runs out, calls continue as text.

Claim and upgrade

  1. Copy the claim link from your server console. It looks like /claim/ABC-123.
  2. Open it and sign in with your email. We send a one-time link; there is no password.
  3. To upgrade, buy a plan on our Tebex store with the same email. It attaches within a minute.

Lost the link? Run /overshift reidentify to print a new one. Cancelling drops the server back to free and keeps its settings.

Morning report

After claiming, paste a Discord webhook URL from your staff channel on the claim page. Every morning you get calls sent, calls answered, response time and PD hours on duty for the last day.

Commands

All commands need the group.admin ACE permission.

CommandWhat it does
/overshift doctorChecks the framework, dependencies, connection, plan, places, officers on duty and hours.
/overshift testSends one test call now, ignoring the quiet timer.
/overshift feedback <text>Sends a note to us, with your doctor output attached.
/overshift reidentifyRegisters a new identity and prints a new claim link.

Troubleshooting

No calls are coming

Run /overshift doctor. The usual causes are no officers on duty, being outside your hours, or real alerts having just come in. /overshift test sends one immediately to prove the wiring works.

The doctor says "backend offline"

Your server can't reach our service. Calls keep running from the built-in library. Check the status page, then your host's firewall.

Calls appear in the wrong place

Your map pack moves that building. Fix the coordinates in Config.POIs.

Data and privacy

The resource sends player and officer counts, call outcomes and the places on your list. It never sends player names, chat or voice. See the privacy policy for the full list.
